Susan was raised in Kearney, Missouri, a suburb of Kansas City. She received a BS in Dance and Artistic Design from Missouri State University in Springfield MO. Susan also danced and choreographed for the Springfield Civic Ballet.Susan and her husband Jim married in 1983 and in 1988 they moved to Edmond, Oklahoma. Their son James was born soon after followed by daughter Hannah in 1990. In 1996 they moved to Tulsa and have fallen in love with T-Town. Her family enjoys art, music, running and biking. Susan has worked in Oklahoma as a professional artist since 1992. Her college degree exposed her to a broad spectrum of artistic disciplines including stage, lighting, costume and set design. She also studied anatomy, kinesiology and choreography. These experiences clearly come to bear on the artwork she produces. Susan works from photographs which she takes. Sometimes more than one photo session is necessary to capture the perfect look. Susan e-mails pictures of the portrait in progress to the client. Each client receives a “Book of the Process” as a keepsake. Because it goes through many stages and “layers”, an oil portrait can take several months to complete. If you are a husband, wife or grandparent that would like to surprise someone with a Portrait, we suggest that you let them enjoy participating in the process. Give them a card letting them know that they are going to experience the pleasure of creating a custom Portrait of a special person or pet.
